As part of my undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, I wrote my thesis on an educational web tool that I built called UTeach.
UTeach is a modern, user-friendly website that allows students to keep track of their upcoming assignments, grades, and progress; while also enabling instructors to easily manage a course, distribute course materials, and grade coursework. All of these features are housed in one simple-to-use application that is designed utilizing research-driven development and user-centered design in order to create an application that is functional for both students and instructors. Furthermore, UTeach is the first learning management system that is integrated with Slack, a messaging platform. Slack enables seamless communication and collaboration in classrooms via real-time messaging; instructors can use slack as a means to replace email communication for their curses and take advantage of Slack’s built-in analytics to measure student engagement in online settings.
